Introducing the region
In accordance with the Law on the Establishment of Special Economic Zones, passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly on December 19, 2010, and pursuant to Resolution No. 187432/T48461N dated December 16, 2012, of the esteemed Council of Ministers, the Kashan Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was formally approved with an industrial and commercial orientation under the authority of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). Following land acquisition and the legal transfer of title deeds, the zone commenced its official operations in coordination with the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Kashan SEZ spans more than 1,500 hectares and is structured across three development phases. Based on the revised master plan of the zone, the first phase, covering an area of 250 hectares, is currently being equipped with essential infrastructure to accommodate incoming investors. Strategically located in the northwestern part of Isfahan Province, at the border between Kashan and Aran & Bidgol counties, and neighboring the provinces of Qom and Markazi, the zone enjoys a prime position. Its direct link to central Iran’s special economic corridors, and indirect access to the northern free and special zones, has elevated the SEZ as one of Iran’s key hubs for industrial and commercial development.
The presence of advanced transit infrastructure, connectivity to national highway and railway networks, convenient access to international and domestic airports, proximity to export terminals, integrated logistics platforms, and warehousing capabilities have collectively strengthened the SEZ’s role in Iran’s supply chain and export network. Moreover, its central geographical placement enables broad engagement with industrial, commercial, and economic poles across the country, creating unique opportunities for sustainable investment and long-term development.
A core mission of the Kashan SEZ is the completion of the value chain in industrial and mining production, with a strong focus on manufacturing high value-added products in alignment with IMIDRO’s strategic development vision. This mission is particularly critical in the production and processing chains of essential metals such as copper, aluminum, and steel, which play a pivotal role in the advancement of downstream industries and the overall competitiveness of Iran’s industrial economy.
Additionally, a key strategic objective underway is the planning and implementation of digital transformation across industrial, commercial, and administrative processes within the SEZ. This approach aims to integrate digital technologies into production, distribution, and management systems while laying the groundwork for state-of-the-art technological infrastructure. Achieving this objective will drive increased productivity and operational efficiency and, at the same time, ensure the SEZ’s sustainability and competitiveness on a global scale.

Geographical location
The Kashan Special Economic Zone is located in the northwest of Isfahan province, on the border between the cities of Kashan and Aran and Bidgol. This area is adjacent to Qom and Markazi provinces, and due to its privileged geographical location, it has become one of the key points of industrial and commercial development in the country.
